Self-portraiture (Part 1)

I started by taking a look at some of the portraits I was sent by family members, and picking apart the lighting setups.
Then, I used natural light and whatever I could find around my flat to recreate a portrait of my grandfather. I wore my other granddad Arthur's jacket and a shirt to try to replicate what Brian was wearing, and used headphones to replace the stethoscope.

I think this preliminary shoot went okay, but I'd really like to try it in the studio so I can have better control over the lighting and camera position. I just did this with my phone taped to a couch cushion in my kitchen as a first step, so I'm looking forward to doing it properly. It gave me a good idea of what I need, but ultimately I need to do it in the studio.
